Last updated: July 2026
CivicAID Network (“we”, “us”, “our”) is committed to protecting your privacy in accordance with the Nigeria Data Protection Act 2023 (NDPA) and its implementing regulation, the Nigeria Data Protection Regulation (NDPR). This policy explains what personal data we collect, why, and the rights you have over it.

- Register for an event (name, email, phone, organization)
- Apply to volunteer or for membership (contact details, skills, CV)
- Subscribe to our newsletter (email address)
- Submit a contact form (name, email, message)
- Apply for a job or consultancy opening
We also collect limited technical data automatically (IP address, browser type, pages visited) through analytics tools, for the purpose of understanding site usage and preventing abuse.
2. How we use your information
- To process donations and issue receipts
- To confirm event registrations and send reminders
- To review volunteer and membership applications
- To send newsletters and updates you have opted into
- To respond to inquiries submitted via our contact form
- To comply with legal and regulatory obligations, including financial reporting
3. Legal basis for processing
We process personal data on the basis of your consent (e.g. newsletter sign-up), performance of a contract (e.g. event registration, membership), and our legitimate interest in operating and improving our programs, always balanced against your rights.
4. Data sharing
We share data only with service providers who help us operate the platform — our payment gateway (Paystack) for donation processing, our email service provider (Resend) for transactional email, and our media host (Cloudinary) for file storage. We do not sell your personal data.
5. Data retention
We retain personal data only as long as necessary for the purpose it was collected, or as required by law (e.g. financial records for donations are retained per Nigerian tax and NGO reporting requirements).
6. Your rights under the NDPA/NDPR
You have the right to:
- Access the personal data we hold about you
- Request correction of inaccurate data
- Request deletion of your data, subject to legal retention requirements
- Withdraw consent at any time (e.g. unsubscribe from our newsletter)
